Let’s have fun.... in english

New experiences

Most of the students think learning english is an obligation. In nowadays society, lots of people who manage in social and working life speak foreign languages very well. Actually, studying english is an obligation, but it should not be so : we should learn english (and other languages) for leisure and to be able to comunicate with all the world. Do you find it hard ? I’m going to give the proof it is not as impossible as you imagine...

I must tell you something : when I decided 2 years ago (I had just graduated 9)that I was going to do my best in order to speak, write and understand english (what plans !), I was afraid, I dare say. Now, I know that after a decision like this is taken, it is quite normal to be frightened but I also know this fear can be overcame.

I began my plans by watching films in O.V : the cinema Opéra’s is a wonderful one in such a case and DVDs are the simplest way (you can choose watching the movie with subtitles or not...). After doing that I felt true progresses in class in all the ways : understanding, speaking and writing.

Then, I take an hard decision : open my first english-writing book. If I can give you an advice to do the best choice : take a book you know the story (the best : a book you have seen a cinematographic adaptation). Choose a book you are sure to enjoy yet ! You will see : the first chapters will be a little difficult but you will enjoy it very soon if, like me, you do your best.

You can begin your reading experiences by tales, short stories and when you feel stronger novels.

English writers I can advice : - Roal Dahl (short stories and novels) - Jane Austen (novels). Warning : reserved to good readers

Good luck - 12.1 ko
